Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday directed officials to identify a suitable location near Hyderabad’s Regional Ring Road
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday directed officials to identify a suitable location near Hyderabad’s Regional Ring Road(RRR) for establishing a dry port. He said that the dry port must be located and designed to meet the logistics and infrastructure demands of the next 100 years.
Chairing a review meeting at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), the Chief Minister assessed the progress of the RRR and National Highway (NH) construction projects across the state.
He highlighted the significance of the Hyderabad-Vijayawada greenfield highway project, referring to the recent inter-state meeting in Delhi between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh officials. At that meeting, the Union home secretary asked states to give in-principle approval for preparing the detailed project report (DPR) for the highway project.
Revanth Reddy directed officials to lay special focus to meet the Centre's directives on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada greenfield highway project. He instructed officials to expedite land acquisition for the northern section of the RRR and to fast-track the consultancy's DPR for its southern stretch.
He proposed a national highway linking Hyderabad with Raipur, Chhattisgarh’s capital, and another between Hyderabad and Mancherial and asked officials to send proposals to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
Addressing land acquisition issues, he was briefed by officials that the presence of standing crops in various regions was delaying the process, as NHAI unwilling to compensate for crop loss.
With the rabi cropping season drawing to a close, Revanth Reddy instructed officials to initiate discussions with farmers and complete the land acquisition at the earliest. He advised that any disputes or hurdles be resolved in coordination with district collectors. Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari was asked to address technical or legal challenges that may arise.
He also stressed the need to develop radial roads connecting the Hyderabad Outer Ring Road (ORR) to the RRR and to extend road infrastructure from the RRR to the state’s borders to enhance regional connectivity.
The meeting was attended by Chief Minister’s adviser Vem Narender Reddy, government adviser K.S. Sreenivasa Raju, Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari, R&B special chief secretary Vikas Raj, and special secretary Dasari Harichandana, among others.
