Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has urged Union railways and IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to expedite the approval of semiconductor manufacturing projects and railway infrastructure projects in Telangana.

During his meeting with Vaishnaw — accompanied by IT minister D. Sridhar Babu and irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy — on Thursday at Rail Bhavan in New Delhi, Revanth Reddy highlighted Telangana’s world-class infrastructure and innovation-friendly environment and requested the minister to clear two semiconductor projects proposed in the state — the Advanced System in Package Technologies (ASIP) project and the Micro LED Display Fab project proposed by Crystal Matrix.

He stressed that Telangana’s existing ecosystem, including top-tier R&D facilities, makes it an ideal location for such high-tech ventures.

The Chief Minister also brought to the Union Minister’s attention Telangana’s proposal under the EMC 2.0 scheme to establish a high-tech electronics park at Mucherla in Rangareddy district.

He urged the Centre to support the creation of a new electronics manufacturing cluster near the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road, which would boost local industry and employment.

The Union minister responded positively to these requests.

Revanth Reddy also sought permission to implement new rail projects aimed at improving connectivity across the state. He reiterated Telangana's proposal for a Regional Ring Rail project parallel to the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road and informed the Union Minister that the Railway Board had already approved the final location survey.

Valued at Rs 8,000 crore, the Regional Ring Rail project is expected to decongest traffic at major stations in Hyderabad and improve connectivity between rural and urban areas, leading to economic upliftment and job creation.

Further, the Chief Minister sought approval for a dedicated rail link between the Hyderabad Dry Port and Bandar Port in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This corridor would aid exports of pharmaceuticals, electronics, and food processing products from Telangana.

Another key request made by Revanth Reddy was the creation of a new Kazipet Railway Division to enhance operational efficiency and provide safer and faster services to passengers in the region. He said that a new railway division would streamline rail operations, especially in north Telangana, and meet the growing industrial and agricultural freight demands.

In addition, the Chief Minister proposed the sanction of four new railway lines to improve connectivity to underdeveloped areas and support the state's industrial and export plans. These include Vikarabad-Krishna (122 km) with an estimated cost of Rs 2,677 crore, Kalwakurthy-Macherla (100 km) with an estimated cost of Rs 2,000 crore, Dornakal-Gadwal (296 km) with an estimated cost of Rs 6,512 crore, and Dornakal-Miryalaguda (97 km) with an estimated cost of Rs 2,184 crore. Revanth Reddy requested that these routes be approved with 100 per cent funding from the railway ministry.

The meeting was attended by several MPs from Telangana, including Porika Balaram Naik, Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Kunduru Raghuveer Reddy, Ramasahayam Raghurama Reddy, and Suresh Shetkar. Top state officials, including Sanjay Kumar (Special Chief Secretary, Industries), Vikas Raj (Special Chief Secretary, Roads and Buildings), and Dr. Gaurav Uppal (Nodal Officer for Central Schemes), also participated in the meeting.

The Chief Minister expressed hope that the Centre would respond positively and support Telangana’s vision for technological advancement and infrastructure development.
