Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is said to have been in no hurry to take up afresh the process of nominating the two MLCs Prof. Kodandaram and Amer Ali Khan under Governor’s quota.

The Chief Minister, according to sources close to him, would wait till the Supreme Court, which on Wednesday quashed the earlier nomination of two MLCs, gives its final verdict on September 17. “There will not be any adventurism in between that puts us in conflict with the judiciary,” sources pointed out.

Revanth Reddy held a meeting with legislative affairs minister D. Sridhar Babu and legal experts following the Supreme Court verdict.

Sources said the government was of the view that the apex court was more particular about the process followed earlier than validating the nomination of its candidates. “There were rulings that the Governor can not reject Cabinet recommendations but can only send back seeking clarifications,” a legal expert pointed out.

The Supreme Court has been adjudicating the roles of the offices of Governor and Speaker in several recent cases.

Sources said the fresh nomination would be in accordance with the Constitutional provisions. As Dasoju Sravan Kumar and other petitioners didn’t seek implementation of their recommendations and only challenged rejection by the Governor, the legal experts were of the view that chances of their nomination were bleak. In such a case, both Kodandaram and Amer Ali Khan would be renominated, sources pointed out.
