Revanth: Get Ready for BRS in Assembly
Tells ministers, MLAs to counter allegations
Hyderabad:Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday said all ministers, as well as Congress MLAs, must be prepared to effectively counter the allegations and narratives that the Opposition parties would seek to push during debates and discussions in the Assembly. The Chief Minister’s directive came at his meeting with ministers and party legislators at the Assembly after the proceedings for Monday were adjourned.
With expectations of heated debates on the cards when the House reconvenes after the New Year break on January 2, Revanth Reddy also made it clear that attendance in the House was mandatory.
The BRS, the Chief Minister was learnt to have told the meeting, would do its best to derail any meaningful discussion, and that every minister must be fully prepared to answer questions pertaining to their departments.
With much of the focus of the current session expected to center around irrigation related issues, the BRS, the Chief Minister said, would attempt to attack the government in a bid to prove that it still existed as a party, and blame the Congress government for problems it inherited from the previous BRS government.
“It is important that everyone follows what is being discussed closely, raise point of orders when relevant as part of countering the BRS,” the Chief Minister is learnt to have told the meeting.
Revanth Reddy said a second meeting of the Legislature’s Business Advisory Council will be held on January 4 to take stock of the sittings till then and take a call on the following days of the session.
The Chief Minister along with Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, and Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, inspected the ongoing renovation works in the old wing of the Assembly. He said that the renovations and remodelling will also see a Parliament Central Hall-like facility where all MLAs and ministers can interact.
