Hyderabad: After Vijay Devarakonda, film actor Rana Daggubati appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at its office in Basheerbagh here on Monday in connection with a case booked for promoting illegal betting apps.

He appeared before the ED in response to summons issued to him in the case, which is being probed based on a First Information Report (FIR) issued by Cyberabad police. Rana is expected to share details related to his financial transactions for promoting betting apps and bank account information.

A few months ago, the Cyberabad police booked a criminal case against popular film actors and actresses - Rana Daggubati, Vijay Devarakonda, Prakash Raj, among others for promoting betting apps in violation of norms through pop-up adds on various social media platforms.

The case was booked under provisions of 318(4), 112 read with 49 BNS and Section 3, 3(A), 4 of TS Gaming Act and Section (D) of IT Act based on a complaint lodged by PM Phanindra Sarma, a businessman and a resident of Miyapur.

On August 6, the ED questioned Vijay Devarakonda for four hours in connection with a case involving the alleged promotion of betting apps. Officials examined his bank statements to verify any suspicious transactions. Vijay arrived at the ED office in Basheerbagh around 10.30 am, accompanied by his legal advisors, and submitted bank records and other documents.

According to sources, the agency grilled him over his association with apps accused of financially exploiting young people, focusing on whether he had promoted such platforms.
