HYDERABAD: Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Friday appreciated the contributions of the Jain community and commended the government’s initiatives to preserve Jain heritage, including the repatriation of more than 20 stolen idols of Tirthankaras and the recognition of Prakrit — one of the oldest Indian languages used in Jain scriptures — as a classical language of India.

The three-day Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO)'s Connect 2025 began at HITEX Exhibition Centre and HICC Novotel on Friday. The event is showcasing over 600 stalls, six grand arenas and more than 2 lakh visitors are expected to attend the expo.
The grand launch was graced by distinguished leaders, including Rajnath Singh, and his Cabinet colleague G. Kishan Reddy, Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, state IT minister G. Sridhar Babu, along with several ministers, parliamentarians, policymakers, industrialists and cultural icons.
Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev held a session on "Harnessing ancient wisdom for modern well being".
The event, in the coming days, will host celebrities such as Kamlesh Patel (Dadaji), cinema legend Boman Irani, cricket star Surya Kumar Yadav, Union Minister Smriti Irani and financial stalwarts like Motilal Oswal, Nilesh Shah, Vijay Kedia and Sridhar Vembu (Zoho Founder).
Adding to the grandeur, performances by Shankar Mahadevan with his sons were seen on Day 1, and music maestro Pritam will be performing on day 2. A poetic finale will be presented by Kumar Vishwas and Manoj Muntashir on day 3.
