Rains Batter Telangana, Transport Hit For 4th Day
Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Medak and Nirmal districts have been the worst affected, officials said.
Hyderabad:Incessant rains continued to batter Telangana for the fourth straight day, leaving several districts inundated, causing property loss and severely disrupting transport. Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Medak and Nirmal districts have been the worst affected, officials said.
The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) announced that more than 50 per cent of bus services have been restored, though several routes remain affected. Additional buses have been deployed on alternative routes to facilitate passenger movement.
South Central Railway (SCR) reported breaches at multiple track sections, including Bhiknur-Tadmadla on the Medchal-Nizamabad line and the Akanapet-Medak section. Floodwater also overflowed tracks at Gajwel–Lakudaram and Bolsa–Karkheli sections of the Hyderabad division, halting restoration works.
SCR issued an advisory warning of continued disruptions due to heavy rains and cyclonic conditions across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. “In the interest of passenger safety, train services are subject to cancellation, partial cancellation, rescheduling, or diversion depending on the situation,” officials said.
As of Friday, 16 trains were cancelled, and another 11 on Saturday. These include: 1766 Kacheguda-Nagarsol, 77644 Nizamabad-Kacheguda, 77606 Nanded-Medchal, 77649 Kacheguda-Karimnagar, 77603 Kacheguda-Medak, 77653 Secunderabad-Siddipet, 77655 Secunderabad-Siddipet, 77650 Karimnagar-Kacheguda, 57302 Medak-Kacheguda, 77654 Siddipet-Secunderabad and 11414 Pandharpur-Nizamabad.
