Railway Brigade Nets 4,121 Offenders in Massive Ticket Drive
South Central Railway appealed to passengers to travel with valid tickets, cooperate with ticket checking staff and adhere to rules, stressing that safe and secure journeys are a shared responsibility.
Hyderabad:In a drive on Monday, 186 South Central Railway ticket checking staff conducted checks on 169 trains across the zone on Monday and detected 4,121 passengers travelling without tickets or irregularly. They were penalized ₹30.53 lakh.
Thirty‑five passengers were fined ₹7,300 for littering, 19 unauthorised hawkers faced penalties worth ₹38,000, and two passengers smoking in railway premises were fined ₹4,000.
Officials said the ticket checking staff also educated passengers about penalties for various offences, sensitised them to fire hazards associated with smoking, and urged them to refrain from littering to help maintain clean stations and trains.
The commercial department explained that intensive ticket checking curbs irregular travel, ensures comfortable journeys for genuine passengers and builds confidence in the railway system.
