Karimnagar: Backward class welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar said that AICC leader Rahul Gandhi is expected to secure budget approval for the BC caste census during the upcoming Parliament session during a press meet at the Congress office in Karimnagar on Thursday.

The survey, which offers an additional opportunity for those who missed the initial round, is seen as a critical tool for formulating policies to uplift marginalised communities. Prabhakar stressed the need for Centre’s financial support to expand BC reservations and urged collaboration between state and Central governments.

The minister also criticised the BRS for not participating in the survey and questioned the transparency of a similar survey conducted during their tenure. Additionally, he accused the BJP of politicising the BC Muslim community and opposing caste-based enumeration.

Prabhakar emphasised that state elections will proceed only after the completion of the survey.
