Rahul Gandhi’s Warning on Vote Theft Has Come True: Bhatti

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said that the repeated warnings given by AICC senior leader Rahul Gandhi that citizens’ voting rights were being systematically undermined through “vote theft” in the country over the past few years have now been proved true.
He expressed deep concern over the manner in which citizens’ votes were allegedly being deleted in the name of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, stating that the acknowledgement of the issue by other Election Commissioners themselves was an unfortunate development for the country’s democracy.
Following the AICC’s call for the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, Congress leaders and workers, under the leadership of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), organised a massive protest on Monday in front of the State Election Commission office at BRK Bhavan in Hyderabad.
Bhatti Vikramarka participated in the protest carrying a copy of the Constitution, reaffirming the Congress party’s commitment to protecting democracy. Later, along with TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, Ministers Duddilla Sridhar Babu and Ponnam Prabhakar, and former MP Azharuddin, he submitted a memorandum to the Election Commissioner.
Speaking to the media, the Deputy Chief Minister recalled that Rahul Gandhi had been fighting from the beginning to protect the Constitution and the voting rights of citizens.
Bhatti Vikramarka said that the Election Commissioners themselves were now being forced to acknowledge the concerns raised by Rahul Gandhi over “vote theft”. He questioned how democracy could survive if the very right to vote—the lifeblood of democracy—was undermined.
He called upon all political parties that believe in democracy and the Constitution to set aside their differences and join hands with the Congress in the fight to protect democratic values. He alleged that only those who do not have faith in the Constitution were staying away from the movement.
Bhatti Vikramarka reiterated that the Congress has complete faith in Indian democracy and the rights of citizens, and asserted that the party would continue its struggle until every citizen is ensured their rightful voting rights.
