Radhashtami Celebrated with Fervour at BH Golden Temple

Hyderabad: The Hare Krishna Golden Temple in Banjara Hills celebrated the annual Sri Radhashtami festival on Sunday at, drawing hundreds of devotees. The occasion marks the appearance day of Goddess Radha, revered as the eternal consort of Lord Krishna.

Devotees had special darshan of the deities Sri Radha Govinda, who were adorned in fresh garments and traditional jewellery, a statement said. The temple altars were decked with vibrant floral decorations. A major highlight was the 108 Kalasha Abhishekam, during which the deities were ritually bathed in milk, curd, honey, fruit juices, herbal powders, and flower extracts, accompanied by Vedic chants and kirtans.

The temple also offered chappan bhog, 56 different food items, followed by an afternoon Raja Bhoga Aarti. Devotional songs like Sri Radhashtakam were rendered by the congregation.

In his address, temple president Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa Prabhuji described Radharani as the Mother of the universe and said the day is observed to seek Her blessings for devotion to Krishna.


NIMS to Offer Free Heart Surgeries for Children in Special Camp

Hyderabad: Children with congenital heart problems will be screened and operated free of cost at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (Nims), as part of a special paediatric cardiac surgery camp led by a visiting team of doctors from Britain. Nims director Dr N. Bheerappa said the camp will be conducted from September 1 to 21, and will focus on children suffering from congenital heart defects. Eligible patients will undergo evaluation and, if required, be offered surgery at no cost, with expenses covered under the Aarogyasri and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).

Parents have been advised to bring previous reports, including CT scans and referrals, for consultation. Screening will take place at the CTVS (cardiothoracic and vascular surgery) department on the first floor of the old NIMS building. Dr Amaresh Rao, Dr Praveen, and Dr Gopal will be available for consultations every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, between 8 am and 4 pm.

The initiative aims to extend advanced surgical care to underprivileged children, while also providing a platform for knowledge exchange between Indian and UK-based doctors.

2 Dams Record 500 Cusecs of Inflows

Hyderabad: The HMWS&SB has kept open gates at the Osmansagar and Himayatsagar to release water downstream. Osmansagar had water at 1,788.8 feet against its full tank level of 1,790 feet. Inflows were recorded at 500 cusecs.

At Himayatsagar 339 cusecs of water was being released. Water at the reservoir stood at 1,762.15 feet against its FTL of 1,763.5 feet. Inflows were recorded at 500 cusecs.


24 Puppies Adopted at KBR Park, Jubilee Hills

Hyderabad: Twenty-four puppies were adopted on Sunday at the KBR Park in Jubilee Hills on Sunday. Put up for adoption were 35 puppies; the rest were sent back to Blue Cross. All pups were dewormed, vaccinated.

GHMC officials took all the details of those who adopted the puppies, and gave them a pet animal licence. A chart with the scheduled dates related to deworming etc was handed over to the pet parents.

“We will follow up on the health of the puppies for six months. After that, sterilisation will be done free of cost,” said a GHMC official. Asked about the possibility of the owners abandoning the pets, the official said the process of licence registration and paper work was laborious and only those who are passionate about adopting a pet will participate.

The adoption drive was held by the GHMC and Blue Cross. GHMC commissioner R.V. Karnan handed the first puppy that was adopted to Chinkakunta Raju of Shaikpet. Karnan said similar adoption melas would be held in all GHMC zones. Chief veterinary officer Dr Abdul Wakil and others were present at the Indie Puppy Mela.


T-SAT Launches 35-Day Digital Coaching for IBPS Exams

Hyderabad: T-SAT Network to start a special digital coaching programme for IBPS bank recruitment exams from September 1 to October 3, for 35 days with 100 episodes. T-SAT CEO Bodanapalli Venugopal Reddy announced that the lessons will be telecast daily in Telugu and English on T-SAT Vidya and Nipuna channels, covering Prelims and the Mains exams scheduled in October and November.

The sessions will focus on quantitative aptitude, reasoning ability, puzzles, para jumbles and other major topics. In Vidya channel lessons will be telecast from 7 am to 9 am and on Nipuna from 7 pm to 9 pm.

Venugopal Reddy said that out of 10,227 IBPS posts, Telangana had been allotted 261 and Andhra Pradesh 367. He announced that T-SAT was preparing special digital content for students of government schools in Telangana who are set to appear for the National Means-cum-merit scholarship(NMMS) entrance exam. Starting September 1, Vidya channel will telecast two lessons daily covering mental ability test and scholastic aptitude test subjects.
