WARANGAL: Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) Commissioner T. Venkanna on Tuesday directed officials to improve the quality of sanitation services and strengthen accountability in civic management across the city.

During a surprise inspection in Shivnagar and nearby areas under Division 34, the Commissioner reviewed street cleanliness, garbage collection, drainage maintenance and the functioning of sanitation workers. He later held a review meeting with officials at the local ward office.

Venkanna instructed officials to ensure that garbage does not accumulate anywhere in the city and called for more efficient daily waste collection. He directed the sanitation and engineering wings to resolve technical issues affecting garbage collection vehicles without delay.

The commissioner said all commercial establishments should install two dustbins as part of improved waste management practices. He asked sanitary inspectors to create awareness among traders and ensure compliance within a week.

He also stressed the need to promote waste segregation at the household level through the use of separate bins for different categories of waste.

Venkanna directed officials to monitor staff attendance closely, identify habitual absentees and initiate action wherever necessary.

Reviewing welfare measures for sanitation workers, he instructed officials to submit a comprehensive report on sanitation management and related challenges across the city.
