Pulse Polio Drive Surpasses Target in Telangana, Covers 101.4% of Eligible Children
Health teams visited 32,79,974 houses on Tuesday and vaccinated 88,524 children, including 81,171 children at their homes and 7,353 children outside households.
Hyderabad: The Pulse Polio immunisation programme has exceeded its target, with health teams administering the vaccination to 41,53,185 children, achieving 101.4 per cent coverage against the estimated target population of 40,97,749 children by the end of the third day of the campaign.
The department has decided to continue the campaign for one more day to ensure that every eligible child was covered. Special teams will focus on construction sites, high-risk areas, temporary settlements and labour colonies in urban areas, where children are more likely to be missed during routine immunisation drives.
According to the health commissionerate, the third day focused on intensive house visits to vaccinate children who had missed on the previous days. Mobile and transit teams continued to reach unvaccinated children, giving priority to notified and non-notified slums, high-risk areas and childcare homes.

The department had administered polio drops to 39,22,142 children on the first day of the campaign, followed by 1,42,519 children on the second day and 88,524 children on the third day, taking the cumulative coverage to 41,53,185 children.
