PSU Employee Duped of ₹15 lakh in Cyber Fraud

A 56‑year‑old BHEL Township employee lost ₹15 lakh to cyber fraudsters posing as TRAI, police, CBI and RBI officials. They threatened him with arrest in a fabricated money‑laundering and human‑trafficking case.

The scam began in March with an automated call warning of SIM deactivation. The caller alleged multiple SIMs were issued in Bengaluru using his Aadhaar card. A WhatsApp video call followed, with a fraudster posing as a police officer, claiming his Aadhaar was linked to illegal activities. Another impersonator, claiming to be a CBI officer, threatened arrest and passport blockage. Forged notices resembling those of the Enforcement Directorate and RBI were sent to bolster the deception.

Coerced, the victim transferred ₹15 lakh via RTGS to an account supposedly for verification. Cybercrime police of Cyberabad Commissionerate registered a case and launched investigation.

Lucky Escape: Three Survive High-Speed Crash Near Kokapet Cycling Track

Three persons survived the crash of their speeding car on the service road near the Kokapet cycling track, Narsingi police said on Monday. The accident, police said, occurred when Aman, accompanied by his friends Prakash and Melinda was driving from Kokapet toll gate towards Hitec City. Police said the driver allegedly drove the vehicle at high speed in a negligent manner near the underpass service road bridge, the vehicle reportedly went out of control and rammed into bushes and trees alongside the cycle track. The car sustained damage in the accident. However, all occupants escaped unhurt. After receiving information, police went to the spot, police registered a case against the driver and initiated legal action for rash and negligent driving.

Driver flees with ₹1 lakh and two‑wheeler

A Narsingi businessman alleged his driver decamped with ₹1 lakh in cash and a two‑wheeler. Complainant Uma Maheshwar said he had placed his Benz car for sale, receiving ₹1 lakh advance in cash from a buyer. The money was kept in a bag on the back seat. Later, Maheshwar and his driver Syed Taher drove to his office at Kukatpally. Assured by Taher that the cash was safe, Maheshwar left in another vehicle.

That night, Taher returned the Benz to Maheshwar’s residence but allegedly fled with the cash and a two‑wheeler. His phone was switched off. Police registered a case and began an investigation.

Brothers drown in Kaukur pond

Two brothers drowned while bathing in a pond near Kaukur Dargah on Sunday afternoon. Jawaharnagar police identified the deceased as Akula Mohan, a driver, and his younger brother Akula Krishna, residents of Disabled Colony, Balajinagar. Police said Mohan slipped into the pond and drowned. Krishna jumped in to rescue him but also drowned. Locals alerted police, and NDRF teams retrieved both bodies after intensive efforts. A case was registered based on a complaint by their elder brother Akula Naveen Kumar. Investigation is underway.

B.Tech student murdered in honour crime

Chilkalguda police have cracked a pre‑planned murder case involving a 21‑year‑old BTech student, killed allegedly over sexual jealousy by a group of ten on Monday. The victim, Bommana Yavan alias Akhil, was in a relationship with Chandrika, a relative of the accused. Police said the accused, harbouring resentment after Chandrika refused to separate from Akhil, conspired with family members to eliminate him.

On May 9, the gang intercepted Akhil at Indiranagar Colony, Medibavi, while he was riding a bike and fatally attacked him.

Those arrested include Allaboina Sai Kiran (rowdy‑sheeter, Chilkalguda PS), Rajam Paramesh Kumar Yadav alias Don, Rajam Vamshi Krishna alias Rakhi, Rajam Manish alias Bichu, Srigiri Rahul, Kuchula Shiva Nandan Yadav, Rajam Narsimha Yadav, Rajam Srisailam Yadav, Rajam Mallesh Yadav alias Mallanna, and a juvenile. They were produced before a court.

During interrogation, police said the accused revealed that Sai Kiran, who intended to marry Chandrika, bore a deep grudge against Akhil. With associates and Chandrika’s relatives, he plotted the murder. “Yavan and Chandrika were in a long‑term relationship. The accused, driven by jealousy, conspired and executed the crime,” said Rakshitha Krishna Murthy, DCP Secunderabad Zone.

Cash officer held for ₹23 lakh fraud

Madhuranagar police have arrested Abbi Reddy Yadagiri Reddy, cash in‑charge at SBI’s Yousufguda branch, for allegedly embezzling ₹23 lakh by forging bank entries.

Police said Yadagiri, employed since October 7, 2025, conspired to mislead management by installing a fake Sensor Print Report (SPR) device at the branch ATM. He allegedly created bogus entries showing withdrawals of ₹27.5 lakh without actually dispensing cash.

Suspicion arose when officials noticed a mismatch in ledger accounts. The following day, when cash boxes were shifted to the strong room, discrepancies were confirmed. CCTV footage later established that Yadagiri had deliberately committed fraud.

Branch chief manager Kiran Kumar lodged a complaint, and a case has been registered under forgery, criminal intimidation, breach of trust and cheating. Police said the exact amount siphoned off is being calculated and recovery efforts are underway.

Professor alleges wife, lover plotted murder

A professor from Ghatkesar has lodged a complaint alleging that his wife and her lover conspired to eliminate him, installed spy cameras inside his house and assaulted him.

According to IT Pocharam police, Prof. Ramavath Bikku, 42, of Vijayapuri Colony, Chowdariguda, married Dharavath Sujatha in 2010 and the couple has two children. He claimed that during their stay at Nagole in 2018, Sujatha became reacquainted with her classmate and developed a relationship with her husband Jatoth Mangilal.

Bikku alleged that since 2024 both families have lived in the same locality, and his wife’s behaviour grew suspicious. She had initiated a local panchayat seeking divorce and also lodged a complaint against him with the She Teams police. On inspecting bulb holders with his brother, Bikku claimed they discovered concealed spy cameras fitted with memory cards.

He alleged that in 2025, the accused staged a fake kidnapping, took him to Mulugu at midnight and withdrew ₹2.6 lakh using his credit cards. He also accused his wife of attacking him with a knife recently, causing injuries to his leg and threatening to kill him. Police registered a case based on his complaint and arrested the duo.



Hyderabad: Burglars broke into a locked house in Goshamahal while the inmates had gone to attend a wedding and fled with 28 tola gold, `5 lakh cash and other property. House owner Mahesh Mudiraj who returned on Sunday at about 1 am found the door lock broken, cupboards and bedroom ransacked and valuables looted, said Goshamahal station house officer B. Shravan Kumar. Police on receiving the complaint inspected the scene for clues and formed two teams to track the burglars.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) personnel along with Panjagutta police on Monday arrested three drug consumers and a peddler and seized 11.5 grams MDMA and 7 grams of charas worth `1.4 lakh from them. The consumers were a software employee, an AI engineer and a human resources officer. The accused drug peddler was identified as Thakur R, Keshav Raj, a realtor. He had completed his MBA and worked briefly in sales and marketing and then engaged in real estate and stock market activities. He said he had first procured the drugs for personal consumption but began peddling them to consumers. He mainly targeted pubs, party circles, friends, and acquaintances.

Hyderabad: Patancheru police and the Special Operations Team (SOT) busted an interstate ganja trafficking network and arrested seven persons involved in transportation of 400 kg of dry ganja, Serilingampally DCP Ch Srinivas said. Police seized the ganja, a mini-lorry, a car and six mobile phones, all valued at nearly `2 crores.

The receiver, Manish Padwal from Maharashtra, and the supplier from Odisha were absconding. Padwal contacted mediator Pratap Haridas Pawar, who coordinated with the Odisha-based supplier and arranged transportation through the owner of mini-lorry. On May 8, the accused travelled to Odisha, concealed the contraband beneath empty vegetable plastic trays on the lorry and were taking it to Maharashtra. The car was used as an escort vehicle during transportation through the Outer Ring Road in Hyderabad. The gang was arrested near Muthangi on Monday.

Hyderabad: A fire broke out at a residential flat in Gajularamaram under Jeedimetla on Monday evening, with the police saying it was likely triggered after a geyser explosion. An LPG cylinder also reportedly exploded during the incident, which only intensified the flames and causing damage to household articles. An elderly woman was present inside the house when the fire broke out. She noticed the flames in time and stepped out to safety. No casualties or injuries were reported. Her family members were not at home at the time of the incident

According to fire department officials, fire tenders from Kukatpally and Jeedimetla fire stations rushed to the spot after receiving the alert and launched an extensive operationand brought the flames under control in nearly an hour. Fire officials stated that the flames also spread partially to the third floor of the building, but major damage was prevented.

Officials added that firefighting operations became easier as the building has roads on all four sides, allowing easy access for fire tenders. Since the flames could be tackled from outside without difficulty in accessing staircases, firefighters managed to control the blaze swiftly.

Hyderabad: Attapur police arrested ten persons for the murder of AC technician Mohammed Hussain, a resident of Langer Houz, after he allegedly collected `700 as advance to deliver ganja but failed to do so. Police identified the accused as K. Prashanth, Mitta Jagadeesh, Ram Roshan Yadav, G. Tarun Kumar, A. Nikhil, G. Raj Kumar, M. Jagdish, K. Prashant, K. Vengal Rao and M. Prashanth.

Police said that on May 9, Prashant picked up an argument with Hussain for not delivering the ganja. The prime suspect was joined by his friends who beat up Hussain, leading to his death.
