Prolonged Cold Wave in Adilabad District Causes Health Issues
Due to the cold, people are staying indoors during early morning hours and venturing out only later in the day, returning home by evening. Temperatures fall sharply after sunset, with nights turning particularly cold.
Adilabad: People in the erstwhile Adilabad district have been experiencing prolonged cold weather, with a sharp drop in temperatures leading to health issues. In a few places, the mercury has dipped to as low as 6º Celsius, while temperatures have remained below 10ºCelsius for nearly a month.
Many residents have reported ailments such as neck pain, cough and cold due to persistent cold wave conditions. Rural areas are witnessing even lower temperatures, one to two degrees less than towns and urban centres, making the chill more severe. Elderly persons and children are particularly affected by the prevailing cold weather.
Residents across Nirmal, Mancherial, Adilabad and Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts are experiencing unusually cold conditions this season. The lowest temperatures have been recorded in Ginnedhari village of Tiryani mandal in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district and Arli (T) in Bheempur mandal of Adilabad district.

To cope with the chill, people have been thronging roadside shops to buy sweaters, jackets, caps and mufflers. There has also been increased demand for blankets and rugs. Some households have purchased room heaters to keep indoors warm, while people in rural areas are lighting bonfires in the mornings and evenings to keep themselves warm.
