Hyderabad: BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday said an action plan was being chalked out to solve the problems of every village in Husnabad Assembly constituency.

He said that road problems have been identified in Pariveda village and all necessary steps will be taken to solve them. He said that the development of villages is a continuous process and that efforts are being made to develop Husnabad constituency in all sectors and make it a role model in the state.

The Minister clarified that the problems of the people will be identified at the field level and they will be solved in order of priority.

As part of the Palle Palleku Ponnam Anna – Palle Pallelo Prajapalana program, Prabhakar visited Pariveda village in Koheda mandal of Husnabad constituency of Siddipet district on Tuesday.

Stating that farmers should be made aware of alternative crops, the Minister instructed the officials to create awareness in advance so that farmers do not face difficulties due to the effects of El Nino. He suggested that awareness programs should be organized to ensure that farmers and the public are alert in view of climate change.

Prabhakar said that the Jalasiri program is being implemented in the village to prevent water problems and suggested that everyone should set up irrigation pits at their homes. The Minister inspected the oil palm crop cultivated on five acres by farmer Gavva Rajireddy of the village.

The farmer explained his experiences to the Minister that with oil palm cultivation, there is less danger of monkeys and thieves, there is a possibility of selling the crop without any loss, and the need for water is also less compared to other crops.

The Minister suggested that farmers should focus on cultivating silk and horticultural crops along with oil palm and develop alternative sources of income. He instructed the officials and public representatives to take steps to create awareness among farmers in coordination and take up oil palm cultivation on about 300 acres.

The minister assured that an additional Rs. 10 lakh will be allocated for village development. The Gauravelli project will be completed by next year.
