KARIMNAGAR: A seven-month pregnant woman was murdered by her stepson at Tekurthi village of Ellanthakunta mandal in Karimnagar district on Saturday night.

The victim, Myadara Tirumala, 34, was the second wife of M. Ramulu, a Harikatha performer who married her eight years ago despite having a wife and children. Tirumala, seven-months pregnant, was killed when Ramulu’s younger son from his first marriage, Bunny Teja, 22, allegedly slit her throat with a knife while she was alone at home.
Police said property disputes had been simmering within the family for the past three months. Ramulu had recently registered his house in Tirumala’s name, which reportedly angered Teja, who feared the unborn child would also claim a share of the property.
Acting on a complaint from Tirumala’s parents, Radhamma and Rajaiah, police registered a case. They alleged Ramulu concealed his first marriage and lured them into giving a dowry of ₹10 lakh and seven tolas of gold. The body was shifted for post-mortem and investigations are underway
