Karimnagar: Transport and Backward Class Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Thursday directed officials to speed up work at the Arepalli Junction underpass and the Yellamma Cheruvu beautification project, saying both schemes must be completed “without further delay.”

During an on-site review, the minister also attacked the BJP-led Centre, alleging misuse of the Enforcement Directorate and CBI to “hound opposition leaders” instead of focusing on governance. “Targeting an 80-year-old leader like Sonia Gandhi is political vendetta,” he told reporters, adding that the National Herald — now under investigation — was once pivotal to India’s freedom movement.

Prabhakar criticised the BJP for “ignoring graft among its allies while pursuing the Congress,” and charged the ruling party with “trying to hand the nation over to corporate cronies.” He said the Congress would stage nationwide protests against what he called the Centre’s “anti-democratic tactics.”
