Ponnam Takes Stock of Rain Woes in Hyderabad
Ponnam assured that under the directions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the government is committed to ensure that rains do not disrupt public life, adding a master plan is prepared to provide permanent solutions to traffic congestion and flooding.
Hyderabad: Hyderabad district in-charge Ponnam Prabhakar has directed all departments to work in coordination to ensure that city residents do not face any difficulties during monsoon season.
During a review meeting at GHMC head office on Sunday, Prabhakar discussed precautionary measures to prevent public inconvenience, control seasonal diseases and address monsoon related issues.
GHMC commissioner R.V. Karnan presented ongoing works to tackle ground level challenges during the rainy season, including road repairs, de-silting operations, catch pit installation and road safety drives undertaken in coordination with HYDRAA.
The meeting was attended by HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Joel Davis, GHMC zonal commissioners, and senior officials.
HMWS&SB managing director, K. Ashok Reddy informed the minister about locations where sewage and stormwater flows had been identified and an action plan prepared to address overflow issues.
Prabhakar directed all departments including GHMC, HYDRAA, HMWSSB, Traffic, Electricity, Irrigation, Revenue, and Lakes to step up coordination to prevent inconvenience to the public.
The minister ordered round-the-clock vigilance, and cancellation of leave for officials. He assured that he will be available to solve and respond immediately to any matter that requires government-level intervention. Strict action will be taken against those dumping construction and demolition waste into lakes, ponds, and drains, and called for proactive measures to curb the spread of seasonal diseases.

Feroz Khan lodges complaint against MIM leader
Hyderabad: Congress leader Mohammed Feroz Khan on Sunday filed a complaint with the Hyderabad cybercrime police against AIMIM leader Syed Ali Hyder alleging that the latter had uploaded and circulated defamatory videos on Facebook.
In his written complaint, Feroz Khan stated that the videos posted by Hyder contained vulgar, filthy and unparliamentary language along with derogatory remarks aimed at ruining his personal image. He claimed that the remarks were offensive and irreverent.
Khan attached a link to the video as a proof and urged the police to register a case and conduct an investigation. He further appealed for action against Hyder and his associates.
