Ponnam Takes Praja Palana To Villages

HANAMKONDA: Transport and BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the objective of Praja Palana was to reach out to people, understand their problems and provide solutions at their doorstep. As part of his “Palle Palleku Ponnam Anna – Pallello Praja Palana” programme, he visited Mutharam and Mustafapur villages in Bheemadevarapalli mandal on Sunday and reviewed development and welfare schemes besides receiving public grievances.

At Mutharam, the minister laid the foundation stone for road development works from Mutharam crossroads through Gatla Narsingapur to Lambadi Thanda at a cost of ₹3.74 crore. He explained the implementation of pensions, farm loan waivers, Rythu Bharosa, free power and ration cards and assured residents that the village would be developed on all fronts.

In Mustafapur, Prabhakar said the Gouravelli project would provide irrigation to around 770 acres. He said compensation had been paid to farmers who had given 21.20 acres for canals, nearly two decades after their land was acquired.

He assured residents that issues relating to roads, the Anganwadi building, VO building, drinking water and school infrastructure would be addressed.

The minister urged youngsters to stay away from excessive mobile phone use and take up sports. He said sports equipment had been provided to 173 villages in the constituency and a kabaddi academy had been established at the Huzurabad mini stadium.

Citing the possibility of dry conditions due to the El Nino effect, Prabhakar advised farmers to focus on dryland crops and oil-palm cultivation. He urged households to construct soak pits and use steel banks instead of plastic.

He said women’s self-help groups were being strengthened through interest-free loans and that applications for new pensions could be submitted until August 31.
