Ponnam Reviews Arrangements for Peaceful Ganesh Festivities in Hyderabad
Prabhakar said the meeting was held to ensure that the festivity is celebrated in a peaceful manner
Hyderabad: BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday convened a meeting with officials to review the arrangements to be made for the smooth conduct of Ganesh festival in Hyderabad from September 14.
As the Ganesh festivities are scheduled to begin from September 14, a preparatory meeting was held with officials of all departments, three municipal commissioners, collectors, police officials, and the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS).
Speaking to media persons, Prabhakar, who is also Hyderabad in-charge Minister, said the meeting was held to ensure that the festivity is celebrated in a peaceful manner.
The administration was making all arrangements to ensure that the festivities are conducted collectively. “We requested the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi to distribute saplings to devotees and use handloom scarves during the festivities,” he said.
“We are requesting everyone to use clay Ganesha idols to protect the environment,” he said. During Bonalu festivities, prayers were offered at all temples for good rains. The government is suggesting to the Utsav Samithi members that prayers be offered at Ganesh pandals for El Nino to subside to bring good rains.
“We are celebrating the festivities while respecting the courts. People should voluntarily celebrate the festivities without restrictions,” he added.
