HYDERABAD: A multipurpose function hall built by the GHMC at NBT Nagar, Banjara Hills, on land once targeted by encroachers, was inaugurated on Friday by Hyderabad in‑charge minister Ponnam Prabhakar. The land had been handed over to the GHMC after a legal battle and court orders

Spread over an acre and costing ₹10 crore, the facility is aimed at serving economically weaker sections by offering space for marriages and social functions at affordable rates compared to private halls.

Officials said the hall can accommodate 1,500–2,000 people, and it has ample parking space and is accessible by roads on all four sides..

Speaking at the inaugural, Prabhakar said people eligible for ration cards could still apply and would receive them within four days. He recalled how, under the previous government, citizens had to struggle to obtain ration cards.
