Hyderabad:BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar here on Wednesday inspected the construction work of the newly-constructed Osmania General Hospital (OGH) in Goshamahal.
While inspecting various blocks, which are under construction, the minister, who is in-charge minister of Hyderabad, instructed that there should be no delay in the work that needs to be done on time and made several suggestions to the officials on the construction of the hospital.
He said that the state government was constructing the 2,000-bed Osmania Hospital on priority at a cost of Rs 2,700 crore. The government has decided to rebuild OGH, which has been providing medical services to the people of Telangana for many years, at higher standards.
As per the idea of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the new building is being constructed in 31 lakh square feet. The construction will be carried out with the modern standards keeping in mind the future needs of the next 100 years.
In addition to the hospital, the OGH will have separate hostels for male and female students, a dharamshala, an administrative building and a greenhouse, among other amenities. “We will monitor the work every month with authorities to check the pace of work,” the minister said.
Minor issues like land acquisition, road connectivity and legal issues related to the heritage of the adjacent hostel will be resolved soon. “We are taking steps to ensure that rainwater harvesting is constructed along with the establishment of a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) as part of the project,” he added.
