Hyderabad: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and IT minister D. Sridhar Babu tore into BRS leaders T Harish Rao and K.T. Rama Rao for threatening to scrap the Future City project if the BRS returned to power. “Your own future in the BRS is uncertain… and you are talking about stopping Future City,” Srinivas Reddy said, addressing the two leaders.

In a post on X, Srinivas Reddy questioned Harish Rao’s comments made from the US on abolishing the Future City project. He asked whether BRS leaders had struck secret deals abroad over the land of the project. He said that while the Congress government was building a world-class Future City for Telangana and the nation, the BRS regime had failed to build a single Metro Rail station or add to basic urban infrastructure during its 10-year rule.

“BRS leaders built farmhouses for their family members. We are building a futuristic city for the youth, for jobs, for investments, and for India’s future,” he said.

Srinivas Reddy accused the BRS of obstructing every major development initiative — from Musi rejuvenation to industries in Lagacharla that would create employment for thousands of youths — and was now attempting to derail Future City as well. He asserted that Congress will return to power again with people’s blessings and complete Future City as a landmark project that Telangana and the country will be proud of.

“BRS has no future… but Future City is unstoppable,” Srinivas Reddy stated.

Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, IT minister Sridhar Babu said that Telangana’s development could not be sacrificed for political frustration and cheap politics. “Politics is temporary… but the interests of Telangana are permanent,” he asserted.

Sridhar Babu said the BRS leadership was still unable to recover from its electoral defeats and accused Harish Rao of making irresponsible statements even while abroad. “After being rejected by the people in the Assembly, Parliament, and local body elections, the BRS is still daydreaming about returning to power while indulging in diversion politics and blackmail politics,” he said.

He accused BRS leaders of first trying to obstruct Musi rejuvenation project and now conspiring against Future City — a project he described as the future economic engine of Telangana and a global brand for Hyderabad.

“By declaring that Future City will be cancelled if governments change, Harish Rao is damaging Hyderabad’s investment image internationally. Is frightening investors and stopping jobs for Telangana youth not a betrayal of the state,” he questioned.

Drawing parallels with landmark projects like Shamshabad Airport, ORR, Software Technology Parks, and Hitec City, Sridhar Babu said visionary projects survive beyond governments because they shape the future of generations.
“In the 1990s, computers transformed Hyderabad. Today, AI and Future City will shape the next generation. Telangana cannot afford to remain stuck in the past while the world moves ahead,” he said.

He also clarified that Pharma City was not being scrapped and announced that a world-class life sciences park with a Green Pharma vision will be developed without pollution. “We will not tolerate conspiracies against Telangana’s future. Bharat Future City is unstoppable,” Sridhar Babu said.
