Ponguleti Asks I&PR Officials To Take Govt's Welfare Schemes And Development Programmes To People
Srinivas Reddy said the Congress government had delivered notable results across sectors within two years, giving Telangana a clear new direction under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Hyderabad: Information and public relations (I&PR) minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Friday directed department officials to adapt to changing media trends and effectively use print, electronic and digital platforms, especially social media, to publicise the government’s welfare and development programmes. He directed them to visit the field, study successful implementation of schemes and carry out creative outreach.
Srinivas Reddy said the Congress government had delivered notable results across sectors within two years, giving Telangana a clear new direction under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. However, he noted, information about the government’s initiatives were not reaching the people to the desired extent and stressed the need to strengthen the role of public relations officers as a bridge between the government and people.
He was addressing training sessions for district public relations officers at the Telangana Media Academy in Nampally. The event was organised jointly by the I&PR department and the Telangana Media Academy.
Srinivas Reddy directed the I&PR commissioner to appoint effective DPROs in every district, cancel deputations from other departments, grant promotions to eligible staff and complete the process expeditiously.
Media Academy chairman K. Srinivas Reddy, I&PR special commissioner Ch. Priyanka, CM’s CPRO G. Malsur and others were present. On the occasion, the minister released a special issue of ‘Telangana’ magazine marking two years of the Congress government.
Srinivas Reddy said the government had brought about the change sought by people when they reposed faith in the Congress. He said that the Congress government had lived up to the trust and confidence placed in it. Srinivas Reddy said the government’s decisions in agriculture, education, healthcare, housing, supply of fine rice, ration cards and employment generation were making Telangana a model for the country.
Stating that Telanana was facing a severe crisis in multiple sectors when the Congress government took charge, Srinivas Reddy said it had steadily overcome those challenges and accelerated both development and welfare. In line with the Chief Minister’s vision, several welfare schemes were being implemented to support the poor, he added.
