WARANGAL: A political battle has erupted between the BRS and Congress parties over rumours about “abolition” of the Jangaon district.

BRS party MLA Palla Rajeshwara Reddy has threatened a massive protest against the government, while Congress MP Chamala Kiran Reddy clarified that no such decision has been taken. The dispute followed the state government’s proposal to review the current district boundaries for better administration.

MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy warned the government against playing with the emotions of the local people. Jangaon district, he said, was achieved after many sacrifices and struggles. “If the government tries to remove the district status for Jangaon, the Congress party and the state government would face the consequences,” he remarked.

The MLA accused the ruling party of creating confusion among the people in the guise of a district reorganisation.

Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Reddy dismissed the claims as baseless and politically motivated. He clarified that there has been no specific discussion about scraping Jangaon. The MP called the MLA’s comments immature and urged the people not to believe in rumours.

He said, “The government is planning to appoint a high-level committee for the overall reorganisation of districts. This committee, likely consisting of cabinet ministers or retired IAS officers, will study factors such as administrative ease, distance factor and equal distribution of resources. A formal GO on the formation of this committee is expected shortly," he said.
