Hanamkonda: Political tensions within the Congress intensified on Thursday following Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s visit to the Warangal region, with party leaders hitting back at Konda Susmitha over her comments against the CM and Parkal MLA Revoori Prakash Reddy.

At a media meet held at the Hanamkonda DCC Bhavan on Thursday, Mahila Congress president Errabelli Swarna, Wardhannapet MLA and former IPS officer KR Nagaraju, MLC Baswaraju Saraiah and some other leaders condemned Susmitha’s remarks.

Nagaraju said respecting senior leaders was part of the Congress culture and “family matters” should not be dragged into public space. Congress leaders had exercised restraint following directions from the high command, he said, but warned that they would no longer remain silent if the chief minister, ministers or other party leaders were humiliated.

Congress leaders said differences within the party should be resolved internally. Public criticism could damage the party’s image. They said personal attacks were inappropriate at a time when the party should be strengthening itself following the CM’s successful visit to Warangal.

Former mayor Gundu Sudharani, Hanamkonda DCC president Inagala Venkatram Reddy, Warangal DCC president Mohammed Ayub, district leaders and party workers attended the meeting.
