Singer Mangli’s Party Raided in Chevella, 4 Booked
A case has been registered against Mangli and the resort management.
Hyderabad: The Rajendranagar SOT, along with the Chevella police, raided a birthday party organised by Telugu folk singer Satyavathi Rathod, popularly known as Mangli, on Tuesday at around 2 am. The raid also resulted in a person testing positive for drugs.
Cases under relevant sections have been registered against Mangli, for not acquiring proper police permission before holding the party and serving liquor without acquiring valid permission from Excise Department, Damodar for testing positive for drugs, Megharaj — the DJ at the party and Shivaram Krishna — the general manager of Tripura Resorts, for holding such a large-scale event without seeking police permission.
According to Chevella ACP B. Kishan, the raid was carried out mainly because the singer failed to take police permission before organising such a large-scale event. The party was attended by over 25 people, nine among whom were women, which included the singer’s family members and several well-known personalities like Divi, Kasarla Shyam, Raccha Ravi and singer Indravati, at Tripura Resorts near Erlapalle on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
All the members were subjected to an instant drug test at the party, where one, Damodar Reddy, tested positive for ganja.
Speaking on this, Rajendranagar DCP Ch Srinivas said, “We learnt that Damodar had consumed the contraband a couple of days back. We are verifying that.”
Cases have been registered under relevant sections of the Noise Pollution Act, the Excise Act, and the NDPS Act. Notices would be served to all the four accused.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
