Sources said the accused, all from Bihar, have not returned home and are suspected to be moving around Pune and Bidar.
Hyderabad:Cyberabad police are continuing their search for five absconding members of the interstate gang involved in the Chandanagar Khazana Jewellers firing and robbery case. Sources said the accused, all from Bihar, have not returned home and are suspected to be moving around Pune and Bidar. Police teams are tracking them using CCTV footage and analysing earlier cases booked against them in Bihar.
On August 12, six armed men wearing masks stormed Khazana Jewellers at Chandanagar, opened fire at deputy manager Satish Kumar, injuring his left knee, and escaped with 10 kg of silver articles, including gold-coated items. A case was registered under the relevant provisions of the BNS and the Arms Act.
So far, two accused — Aashish Kumar Singh and Deepak Kumar Sah — have been arrested, and 900 grams of silver were recovered from their possession. CCTV footage showed the gang crossing state borders through Patancheru. Teams are on the lookout in Maharashtra and Karnataka, while others are stationed in Bihar. Officials remained tight-lipped but expressed confidence in their leads, saying arrests are expected shortly. Chandanagar police are also likely to file a custody petition for the two accused currently in remand.
