Police Did Not Act To Complaints Of Death Threats: Family Of Man Who Was Murdered By His Wife
After gaining entry, they allegedly found Sudhir dead, while his wife was seated inside and did not respond to their questions or accompany the body: Sunitha, the victim’s sister
HYDERABAD: The family of a man who was allegedly murdered by his wife at their house in Kukatpally has alleged that his repeated requests seeking police help after receiving death threats from the accused were not acted upon.
When contacted, Kukatpally police said they were never informed about the threats by the victim before the murder.
According to Sunitha, the victim’s sister, Sudheer had called the family on several occasions, saying he was afraid to return home as he was being assaulted. “He told us he was scared to go into the house and said they were beating him,” she said. Sunitha added that Sudheer had earlier approached the police, alleging that his wife was threatening to kill him.
The family alleged that Prasanna, the accused, had an extra-marital affair. These claims remain unconfirmed. Police had cited unending physical and mental harassment as the motive behind the murder.
Speaking of the night of the murder, Sunitha said she received a call from Prasanna around 12.30 am, stating that there had been a quarrel. “I told them to sleep and that we would talk in the morning,” she said, adding that the seriousness of the situation was not made clear at that moment.
When family members reached the apartment later, they found the doors locked. After gaining entry, they allegedly found Sudhir dead, while his wife was seated inside and did not respond to their questions or accompany the body, Sunitha claimed.
The victim’s grieving mother said the family was devastated by the incident. “We only know how to work and live simply. This has shaken us completely,” she said. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
