Police Crack Marredpally Murder
The deceased and the accused were neighbours and childhood friends
Marredpally police cracked a murder case reported from Sanjeevaiahnagar in East Marredpally within 24 hours and arrested four accused, including the prime suspect who stabbed his childhood friend to death following a dispute over his sister. Police identified the prime accused as Sai Nikhil, 22, a BTech dropout and unemployed youth. The other accused were Anand, 20, Sainath, 21, and Ramesh, 22, who allegedly assisted him after the crime.
According to police, the deceased and the accused were neighbours and childhood friends. Trouble began when the deceased, familiar with the accused’s family, repeatedly addressed Sai Nikhil’s sister by name instead of respectfully as sister. Nikhil had earlier warned him against this. During a family gathering at his residence on Sunday night, the deceased allegedly repeated the behaviour, triggering an argument. Nikhil went inside, picked up a knife and stabbed the victim seven times, police said. He fled the scene, while his friends allegedly helped him escape.
Following the murder, Marredpally police launched a swift investigation by analysing CCTV footage, gathering technical evidence, examining witnesses and using scientific methods. All four accused were identified, traced and apprehended within 24 hours.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Malkajgiri DCP C.H. Sridhar, additional DCP K. Ram Kumar, ACP Begumpet P. Gopala Krishna Murthy, ACP Gopalapuram P. Subbaiah, and led by SHO Marredpally Nomula Venkatesh with his team.
Woman arrested for house breakin and theft of jewellery worth ₹15 lakh
Police arrested a woman for allegedly breaking into the house of her neighbour and stealing gold and silver jewellery. The loot, valued at ₹15 lakh, was recovered from the accused, Kapari Narsamma. Narsamma allegedly fled with 91 grams of gold ornaments and 100 tolas of silver ornaments. “During the course of investigation, we found that Babu’s neighbour, accused Narsamma, committed the theft, owing to previous disputes with his family members,” the ACP said.
Narsamma, during sustained interrogation, reportedly disclosed that, owing to previous enmity with the complainant, she took advantage of their absence, broke open the locks of the house and almirah and committed theft.
“Pursuant to her confession, our teams recovered the stolen property consisting of 91 grams of gold ornaments and 100 tolas of silver ornaments, together with the iron pipe and sickle allegedly used for breaking open the locks,” ACP said.

Father, 6-Year-Old Son Drown While Fishing in Taliperu River
A man who had gone fishing drowned in the Taliperu river along with his six-year-old son at Dandupet in Cherla mandal of Bhadradri-Kothagudem district, police said on Tuesday. Police identified the deceased as Ramula Surya Rao and his son Dev Harsha Bhargav, natives of Mogalapally in Cherla mandal.
According to the police, Surya Rao entered a deeper part of the river along with his son, apparently lost his footing and drowned. Witnesses at the spot alerted the Cherla police who rushed to the spot with emergency personnel. It was too late for the victims. Police later retrieved the bodies of the victims with the help of fishermen and sent them to the government hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
