POCSO Accused Gives the Slip to Police During Toilet Break

Warangal: A 20-year-old man accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO Act) escaped from police custody at the Warangal Bus Station on Wednesday. The accused, Boraboina Kalyan Ram, fled while being escorted to Khammam Central Jail after being produced before a magistrate in Warangal.
Police said Kalyan Ram, a resident of Wazedu mandal in Mulugu district, was arrested by Wazedu police in connection with a POCSO case. After his court appearance, a police team was transporting him to the central prison.

Following the incident, the Intezarganj police registered a separate case relating to the escape and launched an investigation. Special teams have been formed, and police in Mulugu and Warangal districts have initiated a coordinated manhunt, including efforts to seal possible exit routes. Police sources said an internal inquiry is also likely to be conducted to ascertain whether there were lapses in security procedures by the escorting personnel.
