Hyderabad: A public interest litigation (PIL) is filed before the Telangana High Court, concerning the use of pure and indigenous ingredients in the prasadam and naivedyam at the Tirupati Balaji Temple.
Yuga Thulasi Foundation filed this PIL alleging deviation from established religious practices and dilution of purity standards in the preparation of sacred offerings. The petitioners contended that despite binding resolutions passed by the TTD Board mandating the use of pure indigenous cow milk and indigenous cow ghee, such standards were not being consistently implemented.
However, the High Court Registry has raised objections on various grounds and was not inclined to give a regular number to the PIL. In the said circumstances, it was listed before the Chief Justice bench for the decision.
The bench heard the contentions of the petitioner`s foundation to treat the issue as PIL. The bench adjourned its decision as to whether to approve the matter as PIL or not.
