HANAMKONDA: Telangana Rakshana Sena founder-president Kalvakuntla Kavitha led a rally in Hanamkonda on Monday, demanding resolution of students’ problems and immediate release of pending fee reimbursement and scholarship dues. The rally was organised from the Ambedkar statue to the collectorate along with students under the leadership of TRS leader Nadipelli Venkateshwar Rao.
The protesters first paid floral tributes to Dr B.R. Ambedkar at the Ambedkar Centre before marching towards the collectorate, raising slogans demanding that the government address students’ grievances. They staged a brief sit-in at the collectorate.
Kavitha sought permission to submit a memorandum to the collector along with the students. After police granted permission, she and the students submitted the memorandum and explained their grievances.
Speaking on the occasion, Kavitha alleged that the government was causing hardship to students by failing to clear fee reimbursement dues. She said lakhs of students who had completed degree and professional courses were unable to obtain their certificates due to pending fees, resulting in the loss of job opportunities. She urged the government not to jeopardise students’ futures.
Kavitha also criticised the Chief Minister over statements regarding changes to the intermediate education system and the proposed merger of polytechnic colleges with a skill university. She demanded justice for polytechnic students and said the fight against the Congress government would continue until all fee reimbursement dues were cleared.
