Pawan Kalyan To Lay Foundation Stone At Kondagattu Temple
The event marks the commencement of development works worth ₹35.19 crore, sanctioned by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams following a special request made by MLA Satyam to the Deputy Chief Minister
KARIMNAGAR: In a significant cross-state collaboration, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and Choppadandi MLA Medipally Satyam will participate in the foundation stone-laying ceremony at the renowned Sri Anjaneya Swamy Temple on January 3.
The event marks the commencement of development works worth ₹35.19 crore, sanctioned by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams following a special request made by MLA Satyam to the Deputy Chief Minister.
Kondagattu is one of Telangana’s most revered pilgrimage centres, with a history spanning over 500 years. According to legend, the idol was discovered by a cowherd, Singam Sanjeevudu, after Lord Hanuman appeared in his dream. The temple is unique for its two-faced deity, symbolising Lord Narasimha and Lord Hanuman, with images of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita depicted on the chest. Devotees believe that offering prayers here for 49 days can cure ailments and bring prosperity.
The sanctioned funds will be used for two major pilgrim-centric projects. A modern accommodation complex, including a Deeksha Viramana Mandapam capable of accommodating 2,000 devotees at a time, will be constructed. In addition, a state-of-the-art pilgrim choultry with 100 rooms will be built to provide comfortable lodging for devotees arriving from across the country.
While the TTD projects focus on immediate amenities, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has reiterated the state government’s commitment to the holistic development of the shrine. A comprehensive master plan is currently under preparation to develop Kondagattu into a world-class spiritual destination, with improved road connectivity, large-scale infrastructure and preservation of the temple’s centuries-old heritage.
The visit has also gained political and spiritual significance, as Pawan Kalyan has traditionally visited Kondagattu before major milestones in his career. He has often recalled that the deity gave him a second life after he survived a high-tension wire mishap in the area several years ago.
Ahead of the visit, district superintendent of police Ashok Kumar inspected the temple premises to ensure foolproof security arrangements. Officials reviewed helipad locations, parking facilities and traffic routes to avoid inconvenience to regular devotees. Jana Sena Party cadres and temple authorities are also making elaborate arrangements for the programme.
MLA Medipally Satyam, who is also the Karimnagar District Congress Committee president, thanked Pawan Kalyan and the Andhra Pradesh government, stating that the initiative transcends political and state boundaries for the welfare of devotees in the Choppadandi constituency.
