KAMAREDDY: Tension prevailed at a private hospital in Kamareddy on Wednesday after a 38-year-old woman died shortly after being taken into the operation theatre for a hysterectomy, with her relatives alleging medical negligence.

Parsha Rajeshwari alias Lasya, a resident of Lingampet, had been admitted to Jeevadan Hospital for the procedure. Doctors said she suffered a cardiac arrest shortly after being taken into the operation theatre and administered anaesthesia.

Her relatives, however, alleged that the hospital staff were negligent. They claimed that a case sheet had not been prepared and that Rajeshwari was taken into the operation theatre without obtaining their consent signatures.

The relatives questioned how Rajeshwari, who they said had arrived at the hospital in an apparently healthy condition, could suddenly suffer a cardiac arrest. An argument subsequently broke out between the family members and hospital staff.

Kamareddy DSP S. Madhusudan reached the hospital and brought the situation under control. Police began collecting details about the incident.

Rajeshwari is survived by her nine-year-old daughter Srivalli and five-year-old son Vaibhav.
