Adilabad: With municipal elections approaching, major political parties are exploring tactical local-level alliances to strengthen their prospects, particularly in closely contested wards of the Adilabad municipality.
Sources said leaders from rival parties have been holding discreet meetings to seek indirect support in select wards. Some candidates are also reaching out to smaller parties such as Jana Sena, Aam Aadmi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and YSR Congress to improve their electoral chances.
A large number of nominations have been filed by candidates from the Indian National Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi and Bharatiya Janata Party. Party leaders have reportedly persuaded some aspirants to withdraw their nominations to prevent rebel candidates from entering the fray and splitting votes.
