BJP activists supported the protest
KARIMNAGAR: Parents staged a protest at the Social Welfare Gurukulam School for Girls in Metpally, alleging that substandard food was being served to students. BJP activists supported the protest.
Acting on complaints from students, parents along with BJP leaders inspected the school kitchen and alleged that they found rotten vegetables and rice contaminated with insects.
They questioned the principal over the quality of food being served and later staged a dharna in front of the school.
BJP leaders alleged that the management had failed to provide quality food and basic facilities. The protesting parents demanded that the district collector intervene and take action against those responsible.
Metpally municipal chairman Onkari Naveen and a Congress leader reached the school and faulted the management over the issue.
In-charge mandal education officer K. Kanakathara visited the school and received a written complaint from the parents.
The protest was withdrawn after the official assured that the matter would be taken up with higher authorities.
