Owaisi Slams BRS MLA for ‘Hate Speech’ Against Cop
He questioned the silence of the BRS leadership, including party president K. Chandrashekar Rao, over the issue.
Hyderabad:AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday strongly condemned remarks made by BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy against Karimnagar police commissioner Gaush Alam, describing them as a blatant attack on the officer’s religious identity.
Speaking during a civic poll campaign in Vikarabad, Owaisi said the comments were objectionable, offensive and reflected hatred against Muslims. He questioned the silence of the BRS leadership, including party president K. Chandrashekar Rao, over the issue. “The use of irresponsible language against a police officer on duty clearly reflects hatred. This is coming from a first-time MLA and it appears that an RSS mindset has overtaken him. The BRS leadership should take serious note of this,” Owaisi said.
Kaushik Reddy was booked by Huzurabad police on Friday for allegedly abusing police personnel and obstructing them during Sammakka-Saralamma jatara-related events in Karimnagar district. He allegedly made derogatory and communal remarks against commissioner Alam after being stopped from proceeding to the site. The MLA later apologised for his statement.
Owaisi said the incident exposed the BRS and its leadership’s silence is “deeply disappointing.”
