Owaisi Slams Bhagwat’s ‘3 Children’ Remark
With Hamare Ram, Ashutosh Rana dives into Ravan’s complexity, showing how mythology continues to speak to our lives today
Hyderabad: In a sharp attack on RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday advised him not to burden Indian women with his “three children per family” theory. Owaisi also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that hatred against Muslims had been “institutionalised” during his tenure.
In an exclusive interview with PTI Videos, Owaisi accused the RSS and its affiliate organisations of spreading anti-Muslim sentiment. Citing the 2011 Census, Owaisi said the Muslim population growth rate had declined to 14.23 per cent compared to nearly 80 per cent of Hindus. “And now you say, give birth to three children. Who are you to interfere in people’s family lives? Why impose a burden on Indian women, who have their own priorities? This is the RSS’s double speak,” he said.
Bhagwat, addressing an event on Thursday, had said every family should have three children to maintain a balanced population, while insisting the RSS does not attack anyone on religious grounds. In response, Owaisi recalled Bhagwat’s earlier remarks describing Muslims as “chori ka samaan” (stolen goods) and “Mughal badshaah ki aulad” (descendants of Mughal rulers). “Who organises dharam sansads and calls for genocide and rape of Muslims? They claim to have no links, but it is RSS-sponsored groups perpetuating this hate,” he alleged.
Calling for the BJP’s removal from power, Owaisi said: “We must ensure their political retirement. People and democracy should retire them forever.” He also noted that V.D. Savarkar first propounded the two-nation theory in 1937 at a Hindu Mahasabha session in Ahmedabad, years before it was taken up by the Muslim League.
