Zilla Parishad High School at Koratikal in Nalgonda district gets ready to reopen after the summer vacation.

Nalgonda: Government and private schools across Nalgonda, Suryapet and Yadadri-Bhongir districts are set to reopen on Monday for the 2026-27 academic year following the summer vacation.

Officials said minor repairs and cleaning of government school premises had been completed ahead of reopening after a break of nearly two months. About 75 to 85 per cent of textbooks have reached school complexes for distribution to students.

In Nalgonda district, 2,017 schools  including 1,749 government and 369 private institutions  cater to a total strength of 1,98,990 students.

In Suryapet district, 1,24,234 students are enrolled in 1,210 schools, including 256 private institutions.

In Yadadri-Bhongir district, 97,424 students are studying in 883 schools, including 157 private institutions.

Private schools have made arrangements to welcome students on the first day of reopening.

Officials indicated that attendance may be low on Monday as it coincides with Amavasya, which some consider inauspicious for beginning new activities.

In Nalgonda district, which recorded closure of nearly 315 government schools, including about 300 primary schools, the administration has initiated steps to reopen institutions. District Collector Badugu Chandrashekhar has directed officials to take up the ‘Badi-Baata’ programme in villages where primary schools were shut.

The district education officer has instructed teachers to inform residents that schools would reopen even if only three or four students enrol, with the aim of restoring access to primary education.
