Hyderabad: Osmania University (OU) has postponed its PG first semester examinations after two days of student protests over incomplete syllabus, hostel facilities and more. “It is hereby informed to all concerned that the Postgraduate (PG) I Semester Examinations have been rescheduled. These examinations will now commence from the first week of March 2026,” the controller of examinations said in a notice issued on Friday.
Students had been agitating on campus for the past two days, claiming that portions of the syllabus had not been completed. The protests took place near the university’s administrative building and involved PG first-year students.
OU Vice Chancellor Prof. Kumar Mogularam met student representatives and deans of the respective departments separately on Thursday. The matter was discussed at length, and the university decided to postpone the examinations after considering the students’ requests. Officials said the revised timetable would be announced soon.
Campus unrest in the past two days was not limited to exam-related demands. A separate protest had emerged in a women’s hostel over restrictions and facility-related complaints. Students alleged that basic amenities such as lighting, washrooms and dining arrangements were inadequate, and that meeting parents outside designated visiting hours was not permitted. Around 50 male students joined the protest in support.
Responding to those allegations earlier, hostel director K. Laxmi said some of the demands were in conflict with existing rules.
