The festivities will conclude on Saturday with academic seminars, cultural performances and an awards ceremony celebrating outstanding faculty, students and researchers
Hyderabad: On the eve of Osmania University’s 108th Foundation Day, Vice Chancellor Prof. Kumar Molugaram highlighted a steady rise in enrolment, particularly from rural and first-generation students, with women comprising over 65 per cent of the cohort.
“This surge underscores our commitment to inclusive education,” he said.
In line with India’s Digital India Mission, the university has digitised its examination branch, transitioning to online payment and administrative processes, he said. “Shifting to cashless platforms has streamlined operations and ensured greater transparency,” the Vice Chancellor noted.
Research output has also seen remarkable growth, with annual citations increasing from 12,000 to 80,000, showcasing Osmania University’s expanding global impact. Looking ahead, the university aims to raise Rs 500 crore for advanced research projects, strengthening infrastructure and enhancing its international standing. “We aim to position Osmania University as a leading Asian institution for interdisciplinary research and innovation,” Prof. Molugaram stated.
The celebrations began with a Foundation Day Walk on campus on Friday, from the Arts College building to the University College of Engineering. Faculty, staff, research scholars and students participated. A two-minute silence was observed in memory of the victims of the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
The festivities will conclude on Saturday with academic seminars, cultural performances and an awards ceremony celebrating outstanding faculty, students and researchers. The day will also feature student-led initiatives, cultural showcases and themed exhibitions, adding vibrancy to the celebrations.
