Operation Sindoor Sparks Patriotic Fervour in Telangana Districts
Despite isolated criticism, public sentiment remains overwhelmingly supportive of the military’s action. Citizens across the region have called for continued national unity and robust backing for anti-terror operations.
Warangal: Following the Indian Army’s successful counter-offensive Operation Sindoor targeting terror camps across the Line of Control (LoC) in response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack, a wave of patriotic fervour swept through various sections of society, especially in the erstwhile Karimnagar and Warangal districts.
The Army’s swift and precise retaliation drew widespread public support and sparked celebratory scenes across towns and social media platforms. From ex-servicemen to civilians, people took to the streets and online forums, echoing chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” “Jai Hind” and “Jai Bharat Sena” in solidarity with the armed forces. Social media timelines were filled with patriotic messages and expressions of pride.
Ex-Army man S. Hanumantha Rao said mock drills being conducted across major Indian cities were part of broader preparedness measures. “Both state and central governments are alert. These drills ensure readiness and awareness. The intelligence agencies are in close coordination with governments to issue blackout orders or emergency advisories when required, ensuring civilian protection.”
He added that the Army’s success has boosted the morale of not just the armed forces but also citizens across the country. “That’s why people are celebrating—it’s not just military success, it’s national pride,” he said.
In the Husnabad constituency, transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar led patriotic programmes to mark the Army’s achievement. Calling for unity across party lines, the Minister praised the Centre’s bold action and urged citizens to stand behind the armed forces.
In Karimnagar, former mayor Sardar Ravinder Singh donated Rs 13,013 towards soldier welfare and appealed for more contributions nationwide. “Every citizen has a role in supporting our jawans—not just emotionally but financially too,” he said.
Meanwhile, a controversy erupted over a social media post by Prof. Surepally Sujatha of Satavahana University, who questioned the symbolism of the word “Sindoor” in the context of war. Her remarks sparked backlash online, with many netizens accusing her of disrespecting the armed forces.
