‘Of the Rich, For the Rich’ Government Landed in Deep-Rooted Corruption, Charges BJP Floor Leader A Maheshwar Reddy

HYDERABAD: BJP Assembly floor leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy on Tuesday alleged deep-rooted corruption in Congress government and pointed to accusations by an INTUC federation general secretary, who had alleged that the wife of Deputy Chief Minister had sought 10 per cent commission for clearing her pension dues.

“Administration has completely derailed. Even a Congress-affiliated INTUC leader is accusing the Deputy CM’s spouse of taking commissions. Earlier, contractors protested in the Deputy CM’s chamber, alleging 30 per cent cuts,” Maheshwar Reddy said at a press conference. He claimed retired employees were being denied dues despite court orders and pointed to a finance secretary facing a bailable arrest warrant as evidence of official misconduct.

The BJP leader demanded details on over `4 lakh crore in loans taken by the Congress government. He alleged that the Congress’ Six Guarantees had remained unfulfilled while new projects like Musi, Future City and Farm City were being used to siphon off funds. “In four months, the government borrowed `34,900 crore at the rate of `290.83 crore daily, `12.12 crore hourly and `20.20 lakh every minute,” he said.

Outstanding dues from the government included `15,000 crore in fee reimbursements, `8,000 crore for retired employees, `60,000 crore to Singareni and `12,000 crore to TGRTC, Maheshwar Reddy alleged, adding that small contractors were being pushed to suicide while select big firms received payments. He stated that the officials obeying corrupt ministers could face consequences, “This is not a people’s government but it is ‘of the rich and for the rich’,” he said.
