Nurse Accused of Killing Parents Dies by Suicide

HYDERABAD: A 25-year-old nurse, arrested for allegedly murdering her parents after they opposed her marriage to her ‘Insta boyfriend’ and later released on bail, died by suicide in Yacharam of Bantwaram mandal in Vikarabad district, police said on Monday.

Nakka Surekha, released on bail on July 31, ended her life by self-administering the same sedative injection she had used earlier, within Dharur police station limits on Sunday night, police said.

Her brother Nakka Ashok, who had lodged the complaint against her, initially refused to claim the body. He relented after his uncle Yadiah and other family members insisted, Dharur station house officer Ch. Raghuram said.

Surekha, facing trial for double murder, had been working as a nurse in a private hospital in Sangareddy after completing her General Nursing and Midwifery course, Raghuram said. On January 28 this year, Dharur police arrested her for murdering her parents by administering a high dose of sedative injection after they opposed her marriage plans.

According to Vikarabad DSP Srinivas Reddy, Surekha had stolen sleeping pills from the hospital on January 24. That night, she injected her mother Nakka Lakshmi, claiming it was for knee pain relief. When her father Nakka Dashrath returned home, she convinced him to take the same injection, saying he was tired from fieldwork. Both died in their sleep.

The next morning, Surekha pretended to cry and told neighbours her parents were not waking up. Suspicious, her brother Ashok lodged a complaint. Postmortem reports confirmed death due to a high dosage of sedative. During questioning, Surekha confessed to the murders, SHO Raghuram said. Her body has now been handed over to Ashok. Police have booked a case of suspicious death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

25-Yr-Old Worker Dies in Fall at Narsingi Construction Site

A 25-year-old man died reportedly after accidentally falling from the first floor of an under-construction building at an RK Constructions site in Narsingi on Monday morning. According to Narsingi police, the incident occurred at around 9.30 am when Jaggeshetti Sai Teja, son of Jaggeshetti Satyam, fell from the first floor of the building under construction at the site. The building being a commercial complex, the height he fell from is approximately 15-20 feet.

Teja sustained serious injuries in the fall. Following the incident, he was shifted to a private hospital for treatment where doctors declared him dead. Police registered a case under BNS 106(1) for causing death of person not amounting to culpable murder and launched an investigation. The circumstances leading to the fall are being examined as part of the probe. Meanwhile, the body sent for postmortem examination. Native of Jagtial, Sai Teja have been working with RK Constructions for two years and was residing in Kollur. Deceased's father lodged the complaint and the case is under investigation.

Man dies of electrocution while installing lights for Milad -Un-Nabi celebrations

A 34-year-old electrician succumbed to injuries after he was electrocuted and fell to the ground while installing lights in Nampally for the Milad-Un-Nabi procession. The victim, Syed Meraj, had climbed an electric pole near Bazarghat crossroads during heavy rains late on Sunday night to install lights. He came in contact with live wire and suffered critical injuries after falling on the road. He was rushed to a private hospital and later to OGH, where he died, Nampally police said.

100 Tonnes of Chicken Waste Bound for AP Fish Ponds Seized in City

Cyberabad police and food safety officials seized about 100 tonnes of chicken waste being transported to Andhra Pradesh reportedly to serve feed for fish, following raids at Attapur, Miyapur, Ameenpur, Kukatpally, Jeedimetla and Chintal, where the waste was allegedly being loaded or dumped using lorries.

Authorities warned against the practice of using chicken waste as feed for fish, and said it should first be processed before being used for the purpose. Officials said fish raised using such waste could pose health risks to consumers and warned of a possible cancer risk. According to officials, the waste was being collected and sold to fish-pond owners in Andhra Pradesh, with the transactions reportedly taking place at night. Cases were booked with the Jagadgirigutta, Miyapur and KPHB police.

Farmer Murdered by Wife, Teen Paramour in Choutuppal; Both Held

A 36-year-old farmer was reportedly murdered by his wife Sharada, 34, and alleged 19-year-old lover Rapolu Shiva at Shankaragutta in Pantangi on August 23, Choutuppal police said on Monday. The victim was identified as Rapolu Danaiah. The motive, according to the police version, was that Danaiah was an obstacle to the relationship between Sharada and Shiva.

The incident took place on Sunday afternoon, following which police began an investigation. Choutuppal police, along with the ACP and other officers, examined the scene and collected evidence. A clues team and dog squad were also deployed to assist the investigation. The two suspects were taken into custody during the investigation.

Police said the investigation included verification of events and collection of material evidence. The case was registered after the death came to light, and the prob continuing to further examine the circumstances surrounding the murder. Police said the duo attacked the victim with a stone and later hit him on the head with a stick.
