Nominate Officials for Metro Expansion Works: Kishan Reddy to CM
Kishan Reddy raised concern over delays in moving forward with Hyderabad Metro Phase-II, which the Telangana government has decided to take up
Hyderabad: Union minister G. Kishan Reddy has urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to nominate two state officials to the joint coordination committee for Hyderabad Metro phase‑I takeover from L&T Metro Rail and expedite preparatory work for Phase‑II expansion.
In a letter to the Chief Minister on Friday, Kishan Reddy referred to his discussions with Union urban affairs minister Manohar Lal Khattar on January 14. Khattar reportedly emphasised that Telangana must first complete the Phase‑I handover, finalise agreements and financial transactions, before advancing phase‑II approvals.
The minister noted that during Revanth Reddy’s earlier interaction with Khattar, both sides agreed to form a committee with two officials each from the Centre and the state. However, the ministry of housing and urban affairs (MoHUA) is yet to receive Telangana’s nominations, delaying progress.
Kishan Reddy urged the state government to nominate officials immediately, expedite the L&T takeover, and submit phase‑II proposals to the Centre without delay. He said Hyderabad’s mounting traffic woes demand urgent expansion of the Metro, with the 67‑km phase‑II network critical to easing congestion.
