Police have found no political link to the incident in which an Indiramma sari distributed by the state government was wrapped around the Telangana Talli statue at NG College in Nalgonda on Sunday.

The incident triggered protests by BRS leaders at NG College junction, who suspected the involvement of anti-Telangana elements. They warned of a statewide agitation if the police failed to arrest those responsible.

On Monday morning, another sari, which was not an Indiramma sari, was found wrapped around the statue.

Police examined CCTV footage from NG College junction and found that the sari had been wrapped around the statue by a woman described by them as mentally unstable who had been moving around the college area. She reportedly told the police that she was a devotee of Telangana Talli and had wrapped the sari around the statue for that reason.

BRS leaders had planned a large protest at NG College junction on Monday but withdrew it after police informed them of the findings. The woman was identified as a resident of Gandhi Nagar in Nalgonda.
