Hyderabad: The September Visa Bulletin for the United States issued only minimal advancement in the family-sponsored visa categories and no advancement or retrogression in the employment-based visa categories.

In the bulletin, only the ‘Dates for Filing’ for family-sponsored F2A visas were advanced — from April 1, 2025, to June 1, 2025. The F2A category applies to the spouses and unmarried children under 21 years of age of green card holders.

No ‘Final Action Dates’ for the F2A category, or for any other family-based or employment-based visa category, were advanced or retrogressed in the bulletin.

The US department of state noted that employment-based visas may become unavailable in September, citing that the annual visa limits are close to being reached.

The bulletin stated: “There has been a steady increase in both USCIS and Department of State demand patterns for employment-based visas during the fiscal year. As a result, the Visa Office expects to reach FY-2025 category limits in most employment-based preference categories during August and September.”

It further added: “If at any time an annual limit were reached, it would be necessary to immediately make the preference category ‘unavailable,’ and no further requests for numbers would be honoured.”
