New Delhi: Dr. Vishal Akula, Professor & Head, Department of Psychiatry, Government Medical College, from Nizamabad, Telangana, was honoured with the prestigious Dr. Ketan Desai “Aao Gaon Chalen” Award (Rural Services) by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi, on Saturday.
The award was presented by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh during the National Doctors’ Day Award Ceremony presentation, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to rural healthcare, mental health services, medical education, community outreach, and drug de-addiction initiatives. The IMA selected him for this national honour in recognition of his dedicated service to society.
On receiving the award, Dr. Vishal Akula, who is the President, IMA Nizamabad, and President-Elect, Indian Psychiatric Society – Telangana State Branch, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Indian Medical Association for this prestigious recognition. He specially thanked Dr. Anilkumar J. Nayak, National President, IMA, Dr. Sarbari Dutta, Honorary Secretary General, IMA, and Dr. P. Kishan, President, IMA Telangana State, for their constant support and encouragement throughout his professional journey.
